The Lost World: Jurassic Park Male Velociraptor Bust

The Male Velociraptor Bust from Steven Spielberg's Academy Award®-winning sci-fi sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Velociraptors hunted the survivors on Isla Sorna as they neared the dangerous center of the island.

For The Lost World: Jurassic Park, five practical effects were created to bring the Raptor to life: three full-scale animatronics (one female, two male), an animatronic head and torso, and a pair of mechanized wearable legs for shots of the feet. These animatronics, along with ILM’s CGI representations, would be used in two scenes: the Long Grass massacre and the Worker Village chase.

Because The Lost World: Jurassic Park featured both male and female dinosaurs, a new, more colorful scheme was created for the wild counterparts of the female Raptors seen in the previous film. The wild pack's color scheme would be noticeably more vibrant than the monotone grey brown of the females. Several different color palettes were applied to the line art, including yellow and black patterns and green and red patterns, which were inspired by the novels. The final chosen color scheme was an orange and black pattern reminiscent of a tiger. Additionally, a thinner and more slack skin texture was used to enhance realism.

Continuing to expand their collection for fans and collectors, Elite Creature Collectibles is proud to present the life-size Male Raptor Maquette from Jurassic Park: The Lost World in collaboration with ECC Key Artist Oskar Ankarudd, who faithfully recreated the model at scale. The paint master of the bust was also painted by Artist Oskar Ankarudd himself.
